“Unite Against Bullying”

What is Bullying?

Bullying is an unwanted, aggressive and obnoxious behavior among school aged children, teens and young adults that involves a power imbalance. These types of behaviors are repeated or have the potential to be repeated over time to inflict pain, bodily injuries and emotional distress. Students who are bullied and who bully others may have some serious lasting problems that stem from stressful life experiences.

Unite Against Bullying Assembly

Grades 2-8

Together, we can act positively and responsibly as a "village" to ease this human dilemma in schools and neighborhoods. Onye Onyemaechi’s assembly presents inspirational conversations, sound values, music and education to empower students to deal with bullying situations.

He instills the spirit of forgiveness, kindness, reconciliation, courage and healing to achieve peace and unity in the community.

Key concepts:

Tell others — Share with friends and adults what is happening.
Self-respect — Students need to develop confidence based on their character and accomplishments and not be tyrannized by the need for approval of bullying cliques or social “leaders”.
Kindness — Be helpful with one another; set an example.
Reconciliation — Resolve your differences and make peace by listening to all sides.
Forgiveness — Pardon the bullying person; don’t carry self-destructive anger.
Healing — Get well from past bullying.
